Contact details for Ian Wild
I am a professional physicist who spent 15 years working in private industry, finally specialising in the development of access software for computer users with visual impairments and educational aids to help children with print impairments. I have a passionate interest in educational methodology and alternatives in education. Besides teaching, I love anything mechanical and anything old. I have published a book on the history of Droitwich Spa Lido and was recently at the forefront of an ultimately successful campaign to have the attraction reopened. I am a regular contributor to Roundabout, having written numerous articles on education topics. My interests are many and varied but I do particulary enjoy teaching maths, physics, chemistry and ICT...

Tutoring experience
I tutored privately in the evenings and at weekends for a number of years before becoming a full-time tutor in 2007. My work as a specialist in access and educational software ensures that I am fully conversant with the latest developments in teaching techniques and working with the visually impaired and print impaired means you must be crisp and lucid in your explanations.
My approach to tutoring
I offer a free initial meeting to allow us to get to know one another and to work through the issues with your studies you feel you might be having. We can then plan out lessons together or simply concentrate on those aspects that you feel most unhappy with. If you don't understand something the first time around then I will try another way (one of the most important benefits of one-on-one teaching). There is always more than one way to explain a topic - a fact that a lot of teachers and tutors seem, sadly, to neglect. I try to make flexibility the key to my approach.
I mainly tutor at student's homes (where students tend to feel the most comfortable) and can cover any distance - although I do ask for a small fee to cover transport costs for larger distances.
Did you know that tutors are not required by law to be CRB-checked?
For your complete piece of mind, ask to see my Enhanced CRB Disclosure.
