[Image of front cover]An excellent little (well, not that little so it is extremely good value) book containing a wealth of practice questions (literally thousands!). This book also comes with a CD-ROM containing extracts of the corresponding maths course books (for both foundation and higher tier), which are well written and give plenty of worked examples (NOTE: the CD-ROM contains pdf files that are copy protected. This means you cannot print them out). Recommended.

[Image of front cover]An excellent book for OCR foundation students, this book comes from the pens of the examiners themselves and includes good advice on revision and exams in general and also a “revision record”. Each topic has explanatory text (seemingly a rarity in OCR books) and examples followed by “now try these” questions. Most useful are the worked exam questions that show you the sorts of things examiners are looking for, while further exam questions provide plenty of practice for both…

[No front cover image available]This is the book required for intermediate and higher level OCR students studying modules 7 and 8 of the course. This has the same format as the module 9 and 10 book and the same positive and negative criticisms apply. A good book for revision but not one that explains concepts very well.

[Image of front cover]This is the book required for higher level OCR students studying modules 9 and 10 of the course. On the plus side the book contains calculator and non-calculator exercises, exam tips and tips on how to approach certain problems. Most usefully it contains “You should already know” boxes that state what you need to know for the exam. The only criticism my students have had of this book is that it doesn't explain topics very deeply - it tends to present what you need to know w…

[Image of front cover]Probably a 'must-have' for higher level OCR students, this book is edited by the OCR chief examiner and includes good advice on revision and exams in general and a “revision record”.
2006 sees the start of teaching of the new two tier GCSE mathematics course ('intermediate' will no longer exist after 2007) and Hodder Education have produced Foundation GCSE Mathematics for the new lower tier. Contains summaries for each chapter and lots of practice questions.
There are also some exam tips.

[Image of front cover]Again tied into the new 2006 mathematics specification, this book by Tony Banks isn't one I've seen but apparently “offers a step-by-step approach that builds confidence and helps to improve results.” Can't be bad.

[Image of front cover]The fascinating story of Andrew Wiles ultimately successful attempt to solve Fermat's last theorem - don't worry as this isn't something you'll need to know for GCSE, AS or A level maths! However, Simon Singh does cover fundamental aspects of number logic that you will need to know for your exams and they are explained very well. Certainly worth reading.

[Image of front cover]Like all Letts books, this is very comprehensive with lots of examples and lots of questions for you to test your knowledge. Note that this is a revision book not a text book - in that it does not give complete explanations of topics and techniques. My one criticism is that some of the worked examples given in the book can be a little confusing and not very easy to follow. However, this book is recommended by more than a few schools and colleges.
